Direct Support Professionals
Position Overview:
Are you dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in promoting independence, community inclusion, and well-being. Reporting to the Program Manager, you’ll support individuals by implementing person-centered plans, advocating for their needs, and engaging them in enriching activities.
Responsibilities:

Community Engagement: Actively engage individuals in community activities and foster relationships within the community.

Promote Independence: Encourage and support individuals in developing and maintaining their independence at every opportunity.

Provide support in all aspects of daily living as required including but not limited to personal care, hygiene, domestic skills, education, money management, use of community businesses and resources.

Conduct monthly and annual reviews for Behavior Support Plans, supervision protocols, and safety binders.

Maintain detailed, objective case notes and daily documentation, including updating communication logs.

Monitor, schedule, and attend to medical and health appointments, administer medications, and complete related documentation.

Maintain up-to-date certifications and ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines.

Facilitate community engagement, personal growth, and independence.

Complete clear, concise daily logs and incident reports, respond to communication logs and emails promptly.

Utilize agency technology tools, including Microsoft 365, Share Vision, and agency communication devices.

Ensure adherence to health, safety, and organizational policies.

Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, professional environment.
Qualifications:
-
A Human Services Degree or Diploma is preferred for this role, in such disciplines as: Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Community Service Worker (CSW) or Child and Youth Worker (CYW)

Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Valid CPR & First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) and willingness to complete Safe Management training.

Strong written and oral communication skills and proficient computer skills

Valid G driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract

Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check (recent within the last 3 months)

Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
-
Proof of vaccination against Covid-19 (at leatst 2 doses)

Familiarity with behavior support plans, person-centered care, and MS Office Suite.
Bona Fide Requirements:
-
The ability to engage in all aspects of Medication Administration, including documentation, and achieve and maintain an acceptable passing mark in mandatory testing.

The ability to engage in all aspects of Safe Management and valid First Aid/CPR Certified.

The ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on policies and procedures and Choices Service Principles.

A valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, reliable vehicle and insurable under the Agency Policies.

Interview Process:

Phone Screening/Questionnaire – Qualified applicants will participate in a brief phone interview/ complete questionnaire to share their experience, qualifications, and interest in the role.
In-Person Interview – Selected candidates will meet with 2 Program Managers on site for a Behavioral based Interview using the DS Core Competency Framework
Reference Check – We will contact references to verify experience and fit for the role.
Documentation Review – Candidates will provide documents necessary to meet the guidelines of Choices and MCCSS requirements.
