Our Beginnings
Choices was founded through the collective advocacy of parents whose children attended Glenwood School in Ancaster, Ontario.
Concerned about the lack of appropriate services and supports for people with developmental disabilities in Wentworth County, these families came together to imagine something better.
With the early support of the Rotary Club of Waterdown, an information and awareness campaign was launched, and Choices was formally incorporated in June 1981.
In 1982, a building on Ofield Road South was purchased to establish an adult day program. This milestone was made possible through joint funding from the Rotary Clubs of Dundas, Waterdown, and Ancaster.
What began as a small life-skills day program has since grown into a comprehensive network of residential and community-based supports, responding to the evolving needs and aspirations of the people we serve.
While we are based in Hamilton, Choices proudly supports individuals from communities across Ontario.
